Student Placements
Queensland Youth Services recognises our responsibility to assist with the development and education of students in the community services sector by providing opportunities for placements.
If capacity allows, we are willing to accept students from registered training organisations (RTOs) and universities studying relevant qualifications. The decision to accept a student for a placement will depend upon their:
- Basic understanding of youth issues
- Agreement with our organisation’s philosophy
- Ability to recognise and articulate their own learning needs
- Ability of our organisation to meet the student’s expressed learning needs
- Reporting requirements i.e. those placed on our organisation by the RTO or university and the impact it will have on our workforce
- Placement’s impact to existing employee workload and service delivery, such as student to supervisor ratio
As of 31 August 2020, the No Card No Start law was introduced which states that a valid Blue Card is required to commence employment in youth-related activities; a pending application is no longer acceptable. Queensland Youth Services is committed to keeping youth safe and therefore will only consider applicants who have Blue Cards or are eligible to apply for one.
