Our Townsville office recently attended Suicide Prevention training delivered by Ross from CORES Queensland.
During this session, we were provided with essential skills and resources required to identify, respond to, and support a person at-risk of suicide. This also included ways to build a communityโs capacity to eliminate suicide cohesively.
Together, we explored strategies surrounding how to:
Recognise the warning signs which could lead to suicide
Help someone at-risk access appropriate support services
Promote help-seeking behaviour before a crisis occurs
Learn to identify self-care strategies and develop safety plans
Reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and increase social awareness of the effects of this health issue
These invaluable skills are all crucial in helping our team and the youth that we work with in creating supportive, healthy networks that are free of stigma and open to making meaningful change.
Thank you, Ross and the team at CORES, for such an informative session.
