Queensland Youth Services would like to acknowledge and thank the sponsors of the $10,000 Safer Qld Community Grant funding. Suncorp Insurance and the Queensland Police Service have supported QYS’s Early Intervention Camp Projects for 2013.
QYS proposal is to provide an early intervention program for youth who are at risk of becoming repeat offenders, and a long term juvenile justice statistic. The targeted group will be young males between the ages of 12 and 17 who are first time offenders and/or siblings of repeat offenders, at risk of participating in criminal activity. The intervention will come in the form of a structured camp focusing on understanding good citizenship behaviours, tools for healing, self-empowerment, and making the right choices. Youth who participate in the camps will have an assigned mentor to provide ongoing support.
